History
The Galesburg Clinic opened in 1940 when Dr. William Johnson and Dr. B.E. Malstrom opened their medical practices at the corner of North and Kellogg streets in Galesburg. Dr. Johnson wanted to provide Galesburg and the surrounding community with complete patient care through the concept of housing several medical specialty departments under one roof.
Dr. E.G. Behrents, obstetrician/gynecologist, and Dr. R.G. Henderson, general practitioner, joined the clinic in 1945. Dr. Ray Thompson, internal medicine, joined the staff during the 1950's. Over the years the clinic continued to grow in staff and services. The physicians became owners of the group practice when the Galesburg Clinic Association was formed in 1960.
In 1972, the clinic's main facility, located at 3315 N. Seminary Street, was constructed. In the following years, additional primary and specialty physicians were welcomed to practice medicine at the clinic.
The clinic opened the PromptCare office, an urgent care center, located at 1707 N. Henderson Street in September of 1995.
In 1999, the Galesburg Clinic Association incorporated and became The Galesburg Clinic, P.C.
On November 1, 2010, the Galesburg Clinic became a part of OSF HealthCare. This integration combines two of the best known and most experienced health care providers in Knox County. With access to an integrated health care system, OSF Galesburg Clinic will be able to utilize a network of medical providers and services from all across central Illinois.
